Ford Repair: 2000 Ford Taurus Leak, coolant tubes, pan gasket

Question
I have a small intermittent leak on the drivers side of the car.  I have
noticed a couple of times I have saw a few drips when I drive away and it is
not idling smoothly. Can they both be associated.  The timing gasket, pan
gasket, water pump, reservoir tank and main drive belt were just put in 4
months ago.

Answer
Hey there, there are a few problems with leaks on these cars. these cars are very typical for timing cover gaskets. the good thing is if done properly. it usualy only hapens once in the cars  lifetime. when the front timing cover is done you should also have the oil pan gasket done. the timing cover does leak coolant and oil. so it is a good idea to have it done. the labour time for the front cover i believe is 5.5 hours and the oil pan is somewhere aound 3 hours as well. the good this is the parts are very cheap. One more thing i would llok for is a coolant leak at the coolant tubes that go to the heater core that run along the firewall. let me know what happens good luck
