Ford Repair: 95 Bronco losing power when gas is pushed hard, gust of wind, fuel gauge

Question
Hey there Tony... Thanks for your time. I have a 95 Bronco Eddie Bauer with the 5.8 and 100,000 miles. The rig is new to me so I am not too sure about the fuel gauge. The tank got to 1/4 and, while I was waiting for a train, it felt as though a huge gust of wind was moving the rig and the check engine light came on. The check engine light quickly went off and I started to cross the tracks. As I hit the gas it started normally and then lost power, the rpms fell idle speed, and the check engine light came on. At this point I tried to get to a spot to pull over and eased on the gas and it was fine. I had to stop at a stop light and as I accelerated to get going the same thing happened again. As long as I eased onto the throttle it drove fine. I got it home and later went to put gas in it I laid on the throttle and all was well. I put it into park and hit the gas hard and the symptoms happened again. As soon as I put it into drive and eased onto the throttle it was fine. After I put gas in it I tried the same experiment and, while I was able to get the same results, it was much harder. All this being said, to me it seems like a fuel filter issue. What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance for your help. Take care and have a great day!!

Answer
Hello Jasen, It could be a fuel related issue, could also possibly be a restricted exhaust like a clogged converter. You could check fuel pressure 1st. You can go to autozone.com and there is a DIY section that will help with some info. Check pressures 1st and go from there. Thanks Tony
