Ford Repair: 2002 Ford Windstar LX, carpet matting, ford windstar

Question
Hi, when my vehicle is idling, it sputters and wants to cut off, but doesn't. And then while I'm driving it, it wants to tug like the Trans is slipping, but its not, Its losing power in sputters...most of the time when I'm at low speeds. When this happens, I let off the gas and then give it gas again and it will stop for that moment??

Answer
Charles,

Remove the R/S front interior kick panel and see if the carpet matting is wet under the front carpet area after a good rain. A water leak intrusion in the bulk head area can cause a condition such as this by entering into  electronic control  module. The water would enter on the right side front kick panel area behind your glove box getting the control module wet. Let me know what you find with the floor matting.

Thanks,
