Ford Repair: cruise control, cruise control systems, clutch pedal

Question
I have a 2005 Ford Focus and the cruise control doesn't work. The light on the console comes on and shows it is engaged but it isn't. Just wondering what could be causing this and a possible fix? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Most cruise control systems since 2000 are tied to computer controls, so you will need to get codes checked on this one. One of the most common causes for no cruise is the brake lights not working, so check those first. Are any other warning lights on, such as air bag? If so there could be a common element affecting both systems. Horn operates? Manual trans vehicles also have a clutch switch to disengage the cruise if the clutch pedal is pushed.
