Ford Repair: Ford Taurus SEL 3.0L DOHC 24 Valve Axle, diy mechanic, cv axle

i have a Ford Taurus SEL 3.0L DOHC 24 Valve V6 VIN#1FAHP56S01G131433...... i am replacing the front drivers side CV axle......when i called auto zone they asked me if i had a 17 bolt transmission pan or not.....i have no clue.....please help me figure out this problem as i am trying to have my car repaired by friday for the holidays.......ty

I had no problem finding the part on "Autozone's" website. However, you did not provide the year model, so I had to decipher the VIN code t find out that it was a 2001. When I scrolled down however, I did see where you had run into a problem. My recommendations to ensure that you get the correct part are to do one of two things. Either Jack up the car correctly as if you were going to change the oil and count the bolts. Another solution would be to either have the oil changed, or to go back to where it was recently changed and have them tell you. that would be best I believe. The second solution, is always the best practice if you are a DIY mechanic. Remove the axle, and take it to the parts store. This will help you match up the parts and also keep you from paying the core charge.
