Ford Repair: 1997 Sable and 1998 Taurus transmission interchange, luck chris, oil pan

Question
I have good transmission from a 1998 Taurus and a 1997 Sable with a bad transmission.  How can I tell if they will interchange?  The id tags of both transmissions are still intact.

hey there, i beleive there are two types of transmssions for this vehicle. the stapming for them is usualy on the oil pan, I know one is the AX4N trans i forget what the other one is, but the oil pan will have all the info you want. if the numbers match then you are good to go.
