Ford Repair: 89 Ford Escort 1.9L,4Cyl,Man.4Spd,Non-turbo,W/Air A Few Issues..., negative battery cable, rotor coil

Question
My name is Katie I'm having issues w/my car let's see, the issues are running waaay 2 rich, I think I found what was causing that, maybe, my vacuum hose was not connected to the MAP sensor, hopefully that was it, and the main 2 big issues are I need 2 replace the clutch, and I still can't figure this one out, the car continually stalls out when it gets hot and won't restart till cooled down a bit... maybe ignition control module? It may be helpful 2 know what work I've already done troubleshooting this issue... I've done a major tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, also, I've replaced the fuel pump relay, the ignition cylinder and switch, also had 2 replace the negative battery cable due to it rubbing on the fan blades, made a large area of wires become frayed...  With the clutch, I'm picking up the kit tomorrow also the small flywheel, or whatever it's called, do I need 2 buy the regular flywheel 2?  I would be grateful 4 any assistance! Thx!"

Answer
hey there, when replacing the clutch on any type of vehicle, you do not need to replace the flywheel unless it is scored or discoloured from over heaing, 90 percent of the time the flywheel is machinable which is highly recomended when replacing a clutch. Also you should be getting a new pressure plate, friction disc, and make sure to get a throw out bearing, if the slave cylinder is located on the inside of the bell housing then consider replacing that as well to save you the trouble of having to remove the transmission again. any local machine shop should machine the flywheel for you for under 50 dollars. with the stalling issue, there can be a list of things causing that issue, possibly a sensor? maybe crank sensor? it is hard to diagnose something that i can not see. it may be better to pay the dealer the 1 hour to diagnose it rather than throw hundreds of dollars worth of parts at the car, let me know what happens good luck
