Ford Repair: Turn signal problem, hex screws, multifunction switch

My 1996 explorer has a problem with the turn signal.  Pull it half way down and it works fine.  Pull it all the way down and it sizzles and then the smell of electrical burn.  Is this something that can be replaced by me?

hey there, with what you are telling me, it sounds like the multifunction switch is no good. you may be able to replacet this yourself, just remove a few of the screws to remove the conver that surrounds the steering coluum. located underneit the coluum. and there are ususaly a  couple of hex screws just holding the switch in, unplug it and install in reverse order,. good luck
