Ford Repair: ford windstar 2000 stalls out and runs rough, hairline cracks, rain all night

Question
my ford windstar all the sudden while driving just shut down(stalled out) there where no engine lights or nothing to even warn me. I was driving to work and i was coming to a stop ,at a stop sign and the car just stop running. I put it in park and restarted it . I had it running but it was running rough and continues to run rough and stall out, no one seems to be able to give me a answer to why this is happening .have to keep giving it gas to keep it from stalling out. car was driving fine day before. but it did rain all night the  before it happened ( not sure if that could be related) I'm a girl and i have to fix things myself cuz i don't have a lot of money, but i am also handy with a wrench. anyway if you could lead me in the right direction that would be great. thank you Pam

Answer
hey there, there are a few possibilities to this cause, try remvoving and inspecting the idle air control motor,  and see if it working properly.. the IAC motor is located on the throttle body and is bolted down with two 10 mm bolts and has a 2 or 3 wire connector going to it, you can also first try tapping gently with a hammer or blunt obect to see if it stuck with the engine running,  And if you say the rain is playing a facotr in having it run bad, check the ignition coil pack. they are typical for arcing out of small hairline cracks. you can also quick test it by running the engine and spraying it down with water. if the engine runs worse then replace that coil pack... the coil pack is bolted the the rear rocker cover and is under the cowwel... good luck
