Ford Repair: 1999 ford expedition, 1999 ford expedition, ford expedition

Question
I have a 1999 ford expedition 5.4 litre triton  it misses or has a dead spot only on up hill inclines...runs great on flat road. check engine light comes on and reads egr valve excessive flow but have already changed it twice...any ideas?   would the egr valve be causing this problem considering it has been changed twice..

Answer
Hello Holly, You probably have an ignition coil on a cyl. shorting and causing a miss. It has to be severe enough to set a code, otherwise your guessing which one(s) is causing it. I know a dealer can perform a cyl. balance test to determine which one(s) are causing the miss. The code for the egr is more than likely the sensor for EGR and not the EGR itself, it is called the DPFE. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
