Ford Repair: fuel system problem, fuel injection system, fuel rail

Question
I have a '92 f150 with a 300 6 cyl. I went overseas for a year, and when I came home, truck would not start. changed battery, truck started, but running very rough. It would die going down the road. Now I can't get it to start at all. it will turn over, but won't start. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the ignition on, but after a few seconds the sound is erratic. could it possibly be bad fuel or the pumps going bad? thanks in advance

Answer
Yes, that is one of the worst things that you can do to a vehicle. You will need to drop the tank to change the fuel pump. When you do so, empty the tank, and clean it, thoroughly. You will also need to fog the fuel injection system. This is an aerosol cleaner that connects directly to the fuel rail, after you have disconnected the trucks' fuel system.
