Ford Repair: to much fuel, fuel pressure regulator, ford f 150

Question
i have a 1991 ford f-150 with a 300 6 cylinder. it has 195,000 miles on it. the check engine light came on about 5 days ago and it started to run rough. it seems to be getting to much fuel? i can smell it and when i try to pick up speed it wants to bogg out.it idle's rough also. it was tuned up about 3months ago. plugs, wires, rotor&cap, air filter and fuel filter. all motorcarft parts.it has fuel in both tanks.and it runs rough on both tanks.i don't see any leaking or puddle's under it but, it sure burns your eyes if i run it long enough.i called the ford dealer and they told me that since it's a 1991 their computer won't pin point it but, may give me an idea on which way to start.i hate to spend the 68.00 dollar's on a guess.the gas fumes are coming from the tailpipe. thank you for any help you can give me,,,ed

Answer
first testers/scanners scopes have never pinpointed the problem they tell you what area even sensor or component to start looking at-i would be checking the fuel pressure regulator first-pull the vacuum hose of of it see if any gas is in hose or runs out if so it is definitely bad. other than that you have to start somewhere that 68 dollars is not for a guess it's for starting a diagnosis. good luck.
