Ford Repair: abs & wheel bearings, wheel bearings, abs light

QUESTION: 1. how do u change wheel bearings on a 1998 ford explorer AWD 5.0 liter engine.  2. when the weather is cold the abs light is on brakes work fine. when the light is not on and u brake it makes a funny sound and the pedal feels funny like it wants to go farther than u are pushing it.

ANSWER: after you pull the wheel off you can look at your new bearing and the one on the truck and it is sorts self explanatory just be sure and torgue to specs -dust shield 89-124 inch lbs-abs sensor 62-97 inch lbs
and axle nut which is to be new not reused 157-213 foot lbs.

first if you have a bad bearing it can be causing abs light and soft pedal believe it or not-did you have and change a bearing yet if so i quess you still have a light and pedal problem-if not change the bearing and the other may go away-follow up if you need to.
