Ford Repair: taurus, ford taurus v6, degree thermostat

Question
hi i have a 2002 ford taurus v6 and i just replace the thermostat and now the car seem to run a little hot the thermostat that i put in is 195 degree the car run around 202 degrees it use to run at 195 before i replace it can you tell me what wrong now or this ok

Answer
Could you please specify which V-6 you have? The Flex-fuel, the OHV, or the DOHC. If it is the OHV, then it does require a 195 degree thermostat. Operating only 7 degrees above when the thermostat opens is perfectly normal. Also, was it routine maintenance, or did something prompt you to change the thermostat. Were there previous problems that you failed to mention? The DOHC thermostat is 188 degrees. Make sure that you have the right part.
