Ford Repair: 2000 Mustang V-8 GT Automatic Convertable will not start, starter fluid, luck chris

Question
I have a 2000 Mustang V-8 GT Automatic Convertable that will not start. It will turn over and crank but not start. I have used starter fluid and it will then start and idle, if I try to drive it, it will accelerate but die when braking to a stop, needing starter fluid to get it going again. This continued as I went around the block.

I have changed out the fuel filters, new battery. I believe the fuel pump is working since it will run and rev once it is running.

I have had it attached to a computer and it could not find out or indicate any problems.

Any help or Advise would be appreciated

Answer
hey there, there are two things that pop up in my head when i hear a problem like this, either a fuel problem or an air intake problem, If possible try to have the fuel pressure taken, if it is normal, start to lean towards the I A C (idle air control)  motor, it is located dirrectly on top of the throttle bady and has three wires going to it. try this simple test, while somebody is cranking the engine, try tapping on the IAC motor with a hammer, DO NOT hit it hard as you will just break it, if the idle is better and will actually start replace that motor, it is only two 10 mm bolts and becareful not to forget to install the gasket back in. good luck
