Ford Repair: Engine lock up, ford escapes, cylindar

Question
I have a 2008 Ford Escape. It is a 6 cylindar and it only has 5,200 miles on it. The engine locked up on April 7, 2009. Would you be able to tell me why this happened with only 5,200 miles on it. The SUV was puchased on April 7, 2008.

Answer
Wow, that is incredible. It locked up exactly one year after the purchase date. Unfortunately, it will only be speculation that I provide. That is one of those things you need to have hands on eyesight to diagnose. I have to assume that you took it to the dealership to have it serviced, for what, I guess at least one, maybe two oil changes? Have you recently had the oil changed before it locked up? That is incredibly low mileage, and you are perfectly right to question why? Ford Escapes are not lemons, if I am not mistaken, it won the JD Power award in 2008. That is very ow mileage for 12 months of ownership. That is less than 15 miles a day. It could be an internal engine defect like a faulty oil pump, but this would be the first I have heard of one in that year model. What did the dealership say?
