Ford Repair: 1986 Ford Ranger - No signal to COIL or Injectors, pep boys, blown fuse

Question
Hi Mark,
I read your response to a question you answered on 9/22/08 (1988 Ford Ranger Injectors) and is similiar to mine. What sensors tell the Coil and Injectors to fire? Please Help!!
209K miles
I have a 1986 Ford Ranger 2.3L gas, 2 wheel drive, manual trans. I am not getting a spark from the coil. Pep Boys Mechanic found that it is not getting a signal to the Coil or the Injectors either. Also, when it was running, with the accelerator to the floor the engine sputtered. So far I have replaced the Stator first. It was with a Kraegen part though. Then replaced the coil and ignition switch. I checked the Ignition Control Module but switched it with a known good one anyway. Pep Boys mechanic said it may be a Throttle Positioning Sensor, so I put in a new one. I even tried a remanufactured EEC but put the original back in. Ford dealer wanted to replace the Stator and ICM but I did not let them. Which sensors could I check or replace that send the signal to both the Coil and Injectors. What would you recommend?
Thanks for your assistance!
Steve

Answer
once eec powers up from ignition switch and relay it uses signals from stator in dist and icm to tell coil to fire-you have already replaced most common parts-i know this sounds stupid but make sure timing belt is ok and you don't have any blown fuse links around starter relay.
