Ford Repair: ford aod transmission, ford aod transmission, salvage yard

I have a 1989 ford f150 truck with a 5.0 & an aod transmission. Im wondering if an aod transmission out of a mustang is the same trans. as one in a truck? And could I use one in my truck?

i can't answer that with 100% surety i would be right-the bell housing would mount up but the tailshaft could be different  and torgue converter may have different stall points you would be best to ask another from this website or a salvage yard as most of them have software telling what is interchangeable and the differences you might run into. good luck.
