QUESTION: its a 1989 ford escort with a 1.9L not multi port just throttle body we are almost sure it is hitting the rev limiter what can we do to get rid/by-pass this problem other than put a 300 dollar racing computer in this car? please help?

Answer
hey there, i am pretty sure, that the rev limiter will not affect you, even in a race, the rev limiter is there to prevent over reving of the engine in IDLE. when the car is driving or in gear, it detects a load and the  rev limiter will not kick in, in drive the engine should even go way past redline..
