Ford Repair: V-6 coolant loss, blown head gasket, head gasket problem

Question
V-6 Ford 100k miles. I lose about 1 qt coolant in 400 miles and cant detect any leaks. How can I test for a blown head gasket?

Answer
symptoms-skip when first starts cold may go away after running few seconds or minutes-milky residue on oil filler cap-overheating on hard acceleration or under load-white/green residue on spark plug-coolant jug or hoses gurgling while running-take cap off of radiator or coolant jug start engine see if coolant shoots out these are just a few signs and each one may not be a head gasket problem because there are other things that can cause each problem but if you have two or three of these odds are better its head gasket-a little more info on your vehicle would have been helpful-for example 3.8 taurus and windstars are more prone than crown vics.
