Ford Repair: water, ford, sable

Question
I have a 2000 Mercury Sable I am finding standing water (puddle) located in the rear passenger floor. No water under the seat or along the edges, just where you place your feet. Any ideas??? My mechanic is at a loss.

Answer
Hi Ann Marie,

Water may have entered the blower motor fresh air intake. This could leak and short the blower motor and/or the resistor. Water may be ending up on your rear floor pan because of the way the vehicle sits. It would not hurt to check the right side front floor under the carpet to see if the matting is wet.
Ford has a TSB on this issue.
You may need a splash shield installed along with a new right side cowl screen if the one on your car is warped. This is explained in the TSB that was issued for your problem.
Also, over the years I have found on this model that the e-vap case drain gasket could have failed. This would allow water to follow the e-vap case drain area into the bulkhead. If this helped you, please rate my answer.
