Ford Repair: Engine Noise in Intake on 07 ford escape, coil pack, bloop

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2007 Ford Escape, there is a noise coming from the intake. I took it to a mechanic and he stated that it could be a Intake valve stuck open. Ford told him that the computer needs to be reflashed. I am Lost! It makes a bloop, bloop, bloop noise and the Engine light comes on stating it is CYL.#4 Misfire. I changed the coil pack twice with new ones and still no different. Please help with issue. Thanks, Shane

QUESTION: Sorry, it is a V6

Answer
I am inclined to believe that it is both. Therefore, I would have the computer flashed first. I believe that the computer is sending the incorrect data to the intake valve, which acts a little different than your conventional push rod engine. I wish I had a magic fix for you, but I have to agree with the dealer on this. However, I do have one suggestion. Get it in writing. You let Ford know that you are not about to finance them "throwing parts" to fix the problem, and that you want their estimate in writing. That, should help a lot. I hear so often unfortunately that even dealerships throw parts at a problem until it is resolved, at the owners expense.
