Ford Repair: Ford Taurus Electrical, negative battery cable, 1997 ford taurus

Question
I have a 1997 ford taurus 3.0 the battery light came on the other day and we tested the alternator at the battery it was 11 V so we replaced the alternator. the battery light was still on and the car died when driving it first lost all guages and then just quit. We put a new battery in and the light was still on. replaced the battery terminals and the negative battery cable since they were corroded. The battery light is still on...do you have any suggestions on what to try next?

Answer
do you have battery voltage at alternator big wire-if you do and battery cables are clean and tight-i would have a professional check it because with corroded cables you may have already damaged new alternator it doesn't take much and the way you have done it so far is out of sequence-cables should have been addressed first. have it tested then you can do the repairs yourself keep in mind for example though.

if you bring vehicle to my shop and i diagnose it as alternator and replace it but that is not the problem i will remove alternator and retest system to see what i missed and you don't have to pay for alternator-if you bring it in just for me to diagnose i will my best
to diagnose it correctly but if i am wrong and you go put an alternator on it you bought it. good luck.
