Ford Repair: keychain transmitter problem, windstar van, luck chris

Question
I have a 2003 windstar van and there are times when i can't dise3ngage the anti theft device and am unable to start my van, and then there are other itmes when people have helped me out and somehow er manage to start the van, this has happened 3 days in a row and someone suggetsed i get the battery replaced in the key chain, this made goos senses until someone warned me that opening it would create even MORE problems.  I live in an isolated community and the nearest town is an 11hour winter road drive.  I need help, so my question is:  is it possible my keychain is low on its battery and thats why it wont let me properly open up the van and get in and start it??
The transmitter wont even start the panic mode when i hit the panis button.  OR  do i need to get an entirely new keychain remote???
I am eager to hear ur reply as we speak, my van is sitting at home.  The last time we styarted it was lastnight and it took us over 45 mins to figure out a sequence of steps to disengae the anti-theft thingy,  This problem is new to us, we have had the van for about 8 mmonths and this has never happened before
look forward to ur reply ciao ciao

Answer
ok sorry to hear you are having problems, first try this, put the key in the ignition, and turn the key 8 times from the off to run position within 8 seconds, (you have to stop in the on postion), the horn and 4 ways will then flash once! puch a button on the key fob then all the door locks will cycle to let you know that the fob has been programed, if it does not accepet the program then try changing the battery, changing the battery will make the fob loose its programing, but just repeat those instructions i gave you , that is the way to program them, if you wana change the battery yourself all you have to do is pry the casing apart, and the battery will basically fall out. let me know waht happens and good luck.
