Ford Repair: low voltage, ford f250, voltage meter

Question
"i have a 96 ford f250;7.3 power strip. about 2 days ago i noticed that my lights were dimming and my voltage meter was below normal. i replaced my alternator, and still have a low voltage reading. can you help with any ideas of what it could be?!"

Answer
check both batteries as one bad battery can cause a lot of problems and will ruin alternators-if you can afford it replace batteries in pairs-a battery can have plenty of volts but low on amps-which will cause an alternator to overwork trying to charge it.
