Ford Repair: 2006 Ranger, weather climates, cold engine

Question
2006 Ranger 2WD, 3.0L, 6CYL, 5Speed Auto, Gas.  When cold engine starts fine.  Also, runs fine once it starts.  If engine is warm (hot then sits for about 1 hour) it is hard to start.  The engine would normally start on 2-3 cranks / revolutions but when warm it takes 4-5 cranks and when it starts it takes a moment to smooth out.  Mileage 34,659  Can you offer a reason / solution?  Thx.

Answer
Hello Robert, I looked for a technical service bulletin and special service messages and there is nothing to relate. Have you changed the fuel filter yet? It is due at 30k intervals. Also fuel can be causing it. Try another gas station, reason is fuels are blended now depending on weather climates. Also try to just cycle the key before actually starting to see if it makes a difference, turn the on wait 5 seconds then off then back on and start. If it starts better it may be a possible weak pump or fuel filter restricted. Sorry not much ideas but a few to try. Thanks Tony
