Ford Repair: ford escape electrical problems, ford escape xlt, fuse panel

Question
Hello Mr. Henson,

I have a 2001 Ford Escape XLT V6 with 86k miles.  The
overhead dome light, keyless entry FOB, cruise control, and
radio have all stopped working. I have checked the fuses
and they were all good.  When I attempted to use a computer
diagnostic device it did not register power coming from the
computer. Also, the power locks do not work when the engine
is not on.  If the battery is engaged they work and if the
engine is running they work.  Also, when the vehicle is
started the dials for rpm, speed, etc, all go to max, reset
to 0 and then go to their appropriate place.  Any help you
could provide about what you think might be wrong would be
appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
possibly ignition switch since-the computor isn't what supplies power to the connector the power is supplied from the fuse panel basically and when you hook up a scan tool or code reader the diagnostic is triggered. check connections especially grounds. have it checked out.
