Ford Repair: 1980 Ford F150, ballast resistor, ford f150

Question
Hey Mark,This truck has a 5.8L Engine, Automatic Trans., 2bbl carb, electronic ignition, not sure of the mileage. The engine would turn over but not start. Found no spark at the plugs and determined it had a bad control module (the parts store tested it and found it to be defective). I installed the new module and it would start while the key was in the cranking position but as soon as it was released to the run position would shut down. I purchased and installed a new ignition switch and still have the same problem. Is there a ballast resistor or fuse link or run connection in the starter that may be causing this problem? Or is there something else I am missing? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Answer
check  your connector on the ignition switch-also you can check power on the + side of coil terminal you should have power when the key is in start position and in run position if you don't you are losing it in run position go back to switch and check adjustment.
