Ford Repair: Odometer, bump in the road, loose ground

Question
I have a 97 Ford Explorer V6 four wheel drive. The speed odometer intermittently works. It seems to stop when I hit a bump in the road, but starts working again after the car is restarted. I did find a loose ground wire on a bundle of cables going to the transmission. I fixed that. The odometer worked for about 50 miles, but then started doing the same thing again. Could there be a connection between the loose ground wire and the odometer not working correctly? Thank you for your time.

Answer
that is possible-also wiggle and check the connector at the sensor itself it could have terminals that are spread-check wires for rubbing could be grounding out at times-next time it does it hit dash a couple of times above speedometer you could have a connection problem at cluster also.
