Ford Repair: drivabilty problem, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
Hey Mark,

I have a 92 Taurus 3.0 v6 and my problem is that once it has been driven around and warmed up to normal operating temp it feels like it has no power. I have replaced the mass air flow sensor and it ran fine for a while then the same problem came back. Then I found a TSB from ford stating that the electrical connector for the MAF sensor was defective on some models. I made the repair and it made no difference. When I disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor it runs great. I'm not sure what to check next any advice will be much appreciated, thanks for your time.

Answer
what is leading you to maf are you getting a code?-if you are where did you get your replacement-there are electrical test to be done to determine if it is your maf-if you are using an aftermarket like az or advance for example i haven't had any luck with those-we have more problems with dirty maf sensors than bad ones especially if running a k&n filter oil from filter gets on maf wires and dirt sticks to the oil causing a bad reading which in turn reduces fuel but this is not usually a warm problem-coolant temp sensor for ecm can cause this - also could be fuel problem what is your fuel pressure when hot
