Ford Repair: 2003 ZX2 Altenator, mopar man, serpentine belt

Question
My dad just replaced the altenator in my ford it hasn't been 24 hours and it died again!  Is this common in replacing altenators all of the fords that I have owned have had altenator problems we will replace one and the new one goes out shortly after.  Is it really possible that I am cursed and every new altenator I buy is a bad one or could something else be making it go bad.  My dad also replaced the serpentine belt because the other had some cracks.  I know he didn't install it wrong cause he has been working on cars since he was born and is excellent at it.  I just really need some more input on what could be happening.  Maybe something my dad doesn't know?  Like I said I drive a Ford (found on road dead) i really should have seen the signs; my dad is a Mopar man (never has had any issues with his cars) i guess i know what i'm buying next.

Answer
I have a definition for re manufactured parts, "broken before." If you replace the alternator without a fully charged battery, you do harm to any alternator. Alternators take out batteries, and batteries take out alternators. No matter what brand. If you do 3 load test on a battery within 24 hours at a parts store, you will kill the battery. That is any car. These are little known facts that I hope answer you're question. Strong enough to turn over the engine, does not mean fully charged. Anytime you jump start a car, you do damage to the battery and alternator. Once the car is started, strain is placed on both the alternator, and battery. Always start the vehicle with a fully charged battery, if at all possible.
