Ford Repair: 88 Bronco II w/ 2.9 sputtering, fuel pump relay, bronco ii

Question
My '88 Bronco II is sputtering while driving and at start up. It has a 2.9 v-6 fuel injected V-6. I checked the plugs for fouling and all seemed to be light tan and only one was slightly darker with no build up. I also checked any obstructions in the air filter box. I want to change the fuel filter but I have never dealt with pressurized fuel systems. Are there two filters? One in the tank and one on the frame? Or are my injectors bad. I have ran some additives with no avail.

Answer
filter is on frame-pull your fuel pump fuse or unplug fuel pump relay and spin engine over and that should depressurize the system-don't run to many additives one bottle every six months is plenty to much will foul plugs with red residue-as far as your injectors i don't know-we never had a lot of problem with 2.9 injectors-don't rule out wires-ignition module-ignition coil or pickup coil in distributor-if you don't have a way to check these save yourself some time and possibility of some money (by not guessing at wrong parts to fix problem) take it to a reputable garage by that i don't mean the cheapest you can find take to someone that has a rep of fixing vehicles. good luck
