Ford Repair: temperature gauge, temperature gauge, ford mustang

Question
does the temperature gauge on a 1989 ford mustang 2.3 engine have to be grounded to work, If so where would you ground it at.  We replaced the pressure seal and torque converter in the transmission and now the cruise doesn't work. Could you tell me where it hooks up at. I have check the fuses and all are good.

Answer
temp guage itself is grounded through the cluster ground
the sending unit on block is one wire not grounded the sending unit is grounded when it screws in the block-and a varible resistor inside sending unit changes with temp.

shouldn't have bothered cruise but make sure wires on neutral switch are ok-check connector near a/c ground if you have a/c-check number one fuse again should be 15 amp-
