Ford Repair: 1988 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3 efi 2wd, ford ranger xlt, haynes manual

Question
recently the timing belt teeth spun off at the crank. i replaced the belt and the engine idals fine. timing is at 10 BTDC but when i Drive it, it begins to bog down at about a 1/2 mile. according to the timing specs under the hood it said to disconnect the inline spout connector. Where exactly is this? I changed both fuel filters and the intank fuel pump already because it acted like it was starveing for gas.

Answer
What they are talking about is a small, in line fuse, so to speak. It will be located in very close proximity to the distributor. To correctly check the base timing, it is essential that you remove it. Grab a Haynes manual, it will show you exactly what it looks like.
