Ford Repair: 96 Ford Windstar fuel pump fuse, ford windstar, ohm meter

Question
The fuse for the fuel pump has decided to keep blowing. We had a new one put in, but it just blew again. Is this an indication the pump needs to be replaced, or do you have another suggestion.

Answer
That's kind of a crap shoot. It could be a damaged wire or a bad pump. You are more than likely looking at dropping the tank. You will need to use an ohm meter to test the resistance on the wires. Test the new pump and compare it to the old one before installing. You could be looking at a faulty ignition switch. What happened to the van leading up to this, or did it start happening out of the blue?
