Ford Repair: 99 ford expedition and ABS, mileage vehicle, volt ohm meter

Question
Hi, Currently having an issue wih my '99 expedition and ABS.  the vehicle has 187,000 miles and the Amber ABS light is on.  I've had it a dealer and a local garage, both came back with a differnt diagnosis.  The problem first started out as intermittent.  The ABS light would come on sometimes while stepping on the brakes.  I had a lot of brake dust around the front wheel at the time, so I replaced the brakes.  In doing so I shot some brake cleaner down the inside of the rotor.  since then, the ABS light has been on constant.  Does this sound like a bad/dirty front sensor. and is there a way to test the sensor?  Thanks -Paul

Answer
yes there is a way to test the sensor but you need a volt/ohm meter to do so but first if the sensor is able to be removed take it out and clean the metal off of it-it can be scanned and checked also to see if you have a reading from the wheels if it is happening frequently a reputable garage should be able to diagnose it and yes it is possible to have two problems especially on a high mileage vehicle rear diff sensor and hydraulic valve is very very common problems on these so i could see having both and front wheel speed sensor on a 187k vehicle is very likely also have the garage or dealer recheck then ask if they quarantee it if they say there are more possibilities they are correct.
i can't argue that point you will have to make that decision.
