Ford Repair: 02 escape wont idle and dies, air control valve, vacuum leak

Question
I have a 02' escape v6 2 wheel drive 118,000 miles+. When u start it it
will turn over but unless u keep ur foot on the gas it will die. Once u get it
going it runs rough and if u stop it dies out unless ur keep some presure on
the gas. I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and cleaned the air filter. That
didn't help. Someone told me it might be the idle air control valve. What do u
think? And if it is how do I go about changing it or cleaning it?

Answer
locate it on the throttle body/bore remove it and clean it with throttle bore cleaner you will see the black coking in it-pull breather inlet hose off throttle bore and clean it with bore cleaner have someone hold throttle open from inside while you clean outside-use a wooden handle brush they cost less than 3.00 at hardware stores-also you could have a vacuum leak-you can listen for hissing noise while running.
