Ford Repair: 99 cougar keyless entry, remote keyless entry, entry capabilities

Hi Tony,I bought a used 99 Cougar with only one key,and an aftermarket remote starter that doesn't work.I would like to know how to tell if this car is equipped with remote keyless entry capabilities.You can buy from ebay etc the remote button,but I don't know if this car would be compatible or how to program the remote.The car does have the coded key with the security LED that flashes on the dash.(also the security system sets off if I unlock the hatch with the key when the drivers door is locked)But that is a separate question,you may respond to it if you like.Thankyou for considering my request.

Hello Stephen, Turn the key on and off 4 times in 6 seconds, the LED in the clock/trip should light up continuously to confirm programming mode. If it goes into mode within 20 seconds push a button on a remote the clock will flash 4 times if accepted., follow to # 2 remote. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
