Ford Repair: 1990 Ford SA Capri Turbo wont start makes clicking sound, positive cable, battery connection

Question
Hello Tony form down under (Australia)

I have 1990 Ford SA Capri Turbo, when I try to start it, it just makes a rapid clicking sound and wont start. I put a brand new battery in still the same, I cleaned all connections I can find, taped the starter motor still the same. It push starts very easy and is magic to drive (brand new engine six months ago), but some times when I stop at the lights and it goes into idle it conks out and dies not sure if the two are related. The starter motor was checked a while back now and I was told it's OK.

Your Expert advice would greatly appreciated

Answer
Hello Jayson, Sounds like an electricial issue like a possible battery connection on the positive cable and or negitive cable, starter relay? If it stalls it me be losing battery or low output on the charging circuit. That is were I'd start 1st. Good luck and Thanks Tony
