Ford Repair: ford contour, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
My 99' ford contour is reving at 2 to 3,000 rpm's can i fix this or do i need to replace it. i just put on an air intake could that be what caused this??

Hello Nathan, Check to make sure the throttle body is not sticking open, check idle air control valve, check for a gasket that would allw the engine to get more air(vacuum leak) than it should, possible bad mass air flow sensor. These are areas to look at. Hope this helps Thansk Tony
