Ford Repair: Bench Bleed Master Cylinder, dual master cylinder, air bubbles

Question
Hello,

Just got a new dual master cylinder (not power brakes) for my 64 Ford Pickup.  Directions say I need to "bench bleed the master cylinder."  Can you please describe how I would do this ?  Thank you.

JD

Answer
Hi John,
You will need a bench bleed kit. You can get one at any car parts store. Some reman masters come with them.
Connect the adapters to the tubes and insert them into the top of the master cylinder. Put master in vice. Fill the master with fluid. Make sure the tubes are under the fluid. Use a screwdriver to push the plunger the same way a brake pedal would. Keep pushing until all the air bubbles are out. Install in car and bleed brake system.

GOOD LUCK!!

Jeff
