Ford Repair: my 87 f-150 again, e303 cam, fuel consumption

Question
I'm thinking of doing a eng. swop in my truck, it has a non-h.o. 5.0 and like to put in a 5.0 roller motor. And i would like to use the original computer thats in my truck. I'm thinking that it would work and the only thing I think that should be done is to wire the injector harness with the firing order with the roller eng. What you think?

Answer
That sounds right.I will usually swap the ECU,you just won't get the optimal power. It should still have plenty of torque.Drop in an E303 cam to optimize the roller motor out of the truck would be much easier.Pick up a correct ECU when you can,and just arrange the injectors and ignition wires. Also, you can do my favorite, grab an intake and carburetor for about 250 dollars. You really get the performance and torque from the carburetor setup. If you get the correct size carburetor, probably a Holley 550,dial it down a hair, you will even get comparable fuel consumption to fuel injection.
Roller motors are a must for you're truck. They are installed frequently and are usually non-problematic.You may need to pay attention that the throttle body may be facing the opposite direction to the non-roller 5.0 motor.Have fun,I know that I would, but that's the way I am.
