Ford Repair: Failsafe mode, lincoln dealer, lincoln ls

Hello,
I have an 03 Lincoln LS and in two occasions over the past 3-4 days, my car goes to failsafe mode with the following error code in the status display. "ETC engine in failsafe mode"
I have to turn off the engine and back on for normal operation again.
Both time it happened as I was in the middle of a turn at a traffic light. Not sure if any significance since I can't duplicate the the error even if I make the turn fast enough to get the traction control light activate but not this error again.
Any idea what might cause this?

Hello Drew, On a LS when they go into failsafe mode it could be serious, Difinety need to get a proper diagnostic done preferably a lincoln dealer. If you continue to drive it and ignore the warning the problem could balloon on you. Let me know how it goes  Thanks Tony
