Ford Repair: 2004 Ford Focus, high beams, radio works

Question
We cannot turn the ignition key to start the vehicle. Tried wiggling key in and out while turning it and also applying the brakes and moving the steering wheel back and forth from right to left while wiggling key. I also noticed that parking lights work but headlights and high beams do not work and we have no brake lights. Interior light works, radio works, and horn sounds loud. My guess was ignition switch, but don't understand headlight and brake light part of problem. Thanks for your time. Ray

Hello Ray, Your guess is probaly correct. Try taking a small hammer and tap the head of the key when the key is in the ignition, hopefully it will get the past the tumbler to turn and start, the lites do not have powe to them untill key is in the on position. So untill the key can turn to on position those lites will not work. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
