Ford Repair: 2001 Ford Escape XLT 4X4, ford escape xlt, air control valve

Question
I am having 2 separate problems. Check engine light is on. My vehicle idles very low and fluctuates to the point where it will stall out. Once I accelerate it has normal pickup and runs smooth. Auto store said codes read bad idle air control valve and bad egr valve. Second problem is loud humming from right front tire. Only makes noise from 25-30 mph and up. Tire shop said tire is fine that I have loose tie rod. Can I tighten a tie rod? I am not mechanically inclined but due to money I am game to do my own repairs. Thanks for any help or insight you can give me with these problems.

Answer
The only part to a tie rod to tighten that would be loose would be the nut the holds it to the spindle. For the second part, change the idle air control valve and clean the throttle body when you do it.You can do this with air intake and throttle body cleaner with a cotton rag.An EGR code could be caused from a stuck piece of carbon so I would try to clean it.They get expensive.Get a second opinion about the noise.
