Ford Repair: Ford 302 Coil filled w/oil???, ford 302, coil wire

Question
My Ford 302 (stock 4bbl carb, points, NOT electronic ignition) stopped running. I checked all the usual things, and found no spark. I finally got to the coil wire plug, unplugged it, and found oil seeping out of the top of the coil! I used a paper towel to twist and insert into the plug, cleaned it real well, and it started up instantly...unfortunately, I only got 3 blocks and the car stopped dead. I lifted the hood and checked the coil again, and it was filled with oil-type fluid; cleaned it out, but car never started again...do coils just melt inside and the contents turn to oil??   Thanks, thorn

Answer
I have heard of that happening before. If I am not mistaken it is like the insulation the coil uses to protect it from getting hot.Replace the coil, which I am sure you already have.Check to make sure that it did not burn up the points, probably, did not,but check anyway.
