Ford Repair: 97 Taurus SHO (3.4L V8) loses all electrical power and stalls, eye radio, blink of an eye

Question
Hi. Recently my 97 Taurus SHO V8 has a severe problem.
1. I drive to work, leave it in the garage for 8 hours.
2. When I leave work, I start it up, back up a bit or drive forward a bit, take my foot off the gas, then ALL electrical power is gone, THE WHOLE CAR IS OFF IN A BLINK OF AN EYE. Radio, lights, engine, chimes, the works - OFF.
3. Usually it will restart immediately then drive a bit more, then happen again. After 2 times, it is all set and won't happen again on the way home.
4. The last time #3 happened, the car remained completely dead for 2 mintues, no restart possible. No chimes, no lights, nothing at ALL! I figured well, this is it, now someone can figure it out. But upon my 8th time turning the key I got chimes, lights, and the motor cranked up like there was no problem at all. VROOM!

What has the ability to fail and take the whole car system down in a blink of an eye(all electrical, ignition, the works)?  Also, it is as if it can be reset, and things will be fine afterward.

Answer
You have a couple of possibilities here. The ignition switch sounds like you're culprit.Make sure that there is no corrosion at you're battery. Also make sure that none of you're cables are loose, including at you're starter.A loose starter cable might also be you're culprit.
