Ford Repair: open campaigns, ford explorer, comments section

I just purchased a 1998 Ford Explorer. I have seen alot of talk about "Open campaigns". Should i take it in and have it looked at to see if these issues have been take care off? And do they cost me since they are considered I think Factory defects? Do I still have to pay for them to fix?

Any open campaigns will not cost you money, they are factory programs paid for by Ford. If you want to send me your VIN I can check this for you. Add a followup to your question or post the VIN in the comments section and I will find it. If you have a friendly, helpful dealer they may do this for you, some do not unless you bring the vehicle in for work.
