Ford Repair: headlights on 96 mustang, tail lamps, multifunction switch

Question
I have a 96 mustang GT, the headlights/turnsignals are inop, the tail lamps come on as do the rear blinkers, but they blink fast.  All bulbs look good up front. I looked for the headlamp fuse but the box is not labeled. Any ideas?  Thanks. -Thane

Answer
I suspect you have a failed multifunction switch. This is the one on the left of the steering column, with turn signals, wipers, and high beam functions. Resistance builds up in the switch, or the contacts wear causing this type of problem. The switch is the only common part to turn signals and headlamps. Many times the wipers won't work right, or work at all on intermittent.

Which switch did you replace, headlamp or multifunction????
Replacing a headlamp switch will have nothing to do with the turnsignals.
