Ford Repair: Ford Explorer, head gasket, slack adjuster

Question
I have 2 problems,

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with the v6-sohc the front timing chain is causing allot of clatter. I was told there might be a slack adjuster for it. is this true and what do you know about them?

The Same Explorer is also Over heating. I can drive for about 20-30 min till it starts to climb to hi. and if i go up a hill it will push temp up or run AC also. common situation. But, I have already changed the Thermostat. still persists. I had it looked at and they did a test of the gasses in the radiator and it came up clean. the flow seems to be ok, so they said it might be a head gasket that only leeks once it is good and hot. but it was hot when they tested it. if i run the heat it will bring the temp down to almost normal. when it over heats it pushes the fluid out to the reservoir and that fluid in the reservoir is boiling. it will push so much out there that it overflows!
Any Ideas? are there any sensors that could cause this?

Help! lol

Answer
it may fall into a recalled for that. If I remember correctly, the recall program is 00M12. The warranty was originally extended to 7 years 70000 miles, but recently they have "quietly" extended it to 100000 miles.

You might wanna bring the recall up to your dealership, and make a stink if they don't wanna play ball.

heating: sealant in thermostat? blocked cooling passages?
